Bracknell District
Urban Wildlife Group

Bracknell, together with the surrounding villages of Binfield, Warfield, Winkfield, Crowthorne and Sandhurst, is an area subject to substantial development pressure. Despite its designation as a Wildlife Heritage Site, earlier this year Bracknell Forest Council, in conflict with its own policy, entered into agreements with developers of the Priory Lane Brickworks site off Warfield Road which will mean the loss of half the area of this important unimproved grassland habitat in addition to the previous loss of a similar adjoining Wildlife Heritage Site.

Despite these setbacks, Bracknell District Urban Wildlife Groups believes there is still the opportunity to encourage the survival of wild plants and animals in our gardens, roadsides, parks and open spaces. We undertake a range of activities from local surveys, undertaking, and advising on, practical management of open spaces for the benefit of wildlife and running projects on particular plants or animals.

We hold regular outdoor meetings and members receive a newsletter. We are affiliated to the British Trust for conservations Volunteers and the Bracknell Council for Voluntary Service as well as working with other local conservation groups.
