The Holt Copse Conservation Volunteers (HCCV) were formed in 1999 by a group of concerned local residents with the aim of working with Wokingham Town Council in the management of Holt Copse for the benefit of its users and all aspects of the natural environment.
Holt Copse is a small area of semi-natural ancient woodland situated to the north west of Wokingham, Berkshire. The copse lies on the edge of Joel Park, an area of municipal parkland bordered by the Joel Park housing estate, the main Reading road and Holt Lane. Joel park and Holt Copse are a popular amenity for local residents and a valuable haven for flora and fauna in a predominately urban landscape.
The HCCV undertakes practical conservation work under the auspices of the Management Plan and the woodland owners, Wokingham Town Council. The group is affiliated to the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BCTV) and works with the Joel Park Residents Association.
Membership is open to anyone interested in taking an active part in the work of the group. Contact: Nic Hopkinson 0118 901 9392 or e-mail hccv@lineone.net or visit www.hccv.org/
