Slough Business Environment Club

The Slough Business Environment Club (SBEC) was established in November 1998 to assist businesses in the Slough area in improving their resource efficiency whilst reducing the impact of industry on the environment.

The mission statement says "the club's purpose is to promote and help implement sustainable resource management and pollution prevention within businesses".

In conjunction with a range of partners and stakeholders in the area, SBEC raises awareness of the benefits of environmental improvement with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) of all industrial sectors.

Specifically, SBEC aims to:

There is a "win-win" situation to be gained by businesses which reduce their impact on the environment, since reductions in waste, water consumption and energy use can equate to significant cost savings, often with minimal effort.

Club services include regular workshops and seminars featuring speakers from industry and environmental consultants, a helpline service and newsletter, and other networking opportunities. A free environmental review is included in the membership fee of £50 for companies with more than 10 employees and £30 for smaller businesses.

The present Steering Committee comprises the Environment Agency, Groundwork Thames Valley, Hygeni Care, Satchwell Control Systems, Slough Borough Council, Slough Estates, Slough Heat & Power and Thames Water.
