Hurley Environmental Group (HEG) was started in 1997 partly in response to Local Agenda 21 issues but also because a core group felt we would like to find out more about, and set our own agenda on, environmental issues. HEG is a lively group, which has chosen to stay unaffiliated to any other, who meet every few months to hear a speaker on an environmental topic ? and encourage each other to be ?green?! We have made close links with environmental officers at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, who are regular speakers, and have used Hurley to pilot various environmental schemes. Past topics have included waste management & recycling, energy conservation & home insulation and nature conservation in the community, plus presentations from Friends of the Earth and the Council for the Protection of Rural England. We also publish an occasional newsheet called GREENtips available in the village shops.
